ANGLERS: Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers are holding their first Trout fishing competition on St. Patrick’s Day March 17 for the Michael Walsh Cup. This competition will be held if the weather conditions, water level of the river and the flooding on surrounding lands are of a safe condition to not put any angler in danger. The club will text all it members in the days prior to the competition to confirm whether the competition will go ahead or be deferred to a later date. The committee urges all who fish to be extra careful while out fishing as conditions are potentially very dangerous. It is very important not to go fishing alone and to bring a mobile phone with you at all times so as you can let your family know that you are safe. It is imperative that membership is up to date so as to avail of cover by the fishing clubs insurance. Membership for season 2014 is now due and can be got in Lawlor’s Gala, The Square or Lawlor’s Flower Shop, Mill Road or Michael Walsh, Club Secretary, 18 Erkindale Drive, Durrow.
