Calling all tractor, car and vintage enthusiasts and clubs in Laois, there is a fun run for a great cause in the county this Sunday September 16th. The Laois Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland is hosting their popular Annual Tractor Run in Ballacolla, starting at 2pm. The run starts and finishes at Talbot’s Field in Ballacolla. Entry is €20. There will be music in the Hawthorn Lounge afterwards with food and raffles for exciting prizes.

The group is asking for extra support this year as they fundraise for their exciting ‘Field of Dreams’ training centre for Laois adults with Down Syndrome. The PRO is Michael Gorman. “Please come along and support this worthy cause to help us implement our “Field of Dreams” project in Abbeyleix where our adult population in the county will receive employment training leading to meaningful paid employment for our adult members,” he said.

The centre is planned to have a coffee shop, charity shop and several arts and crafts hubs on site including a purpose built centre of excellence building. “We are looking to the generosity of the people of Laois to help us see this project through to fruition. Huge thanks to Laois County Council and all our councillors for their support for this project. It is an opportunity for our adults to play a meaningful role in our community in paid employment. It will provide other vital services and supports too, that enhance our cradle to grave philosophy,” Mr Gorman said.
