The Cullohill and Durrow Flower & Gardening Club started fourteen years ago. We have around 25 members. In the winter months we meet in the Cullohill Community Centre each month and have a flower arranger or a gardener. In the summer months we have a garden trail, visiting members gardens finishing with a cup of tea in the last garden. We also visit local Garden Centres and Gardens and have found some hidden treasures locally.
Each July we have our Summer outing to some Famous Gardens around the country such as: Helen Dillon’s, Strokestown House and Garden, Belvedere House, Ardgillan and Malahide Castle. This year we plan to visit Lismore Castle. We have taken part in flower festivals. In August of each year we have an exhibition and demonstration in the Durrow Scarecrow Festival.
The Highlight of our year is our Christmas Gala with a well-known Demonstrator making wonderful Christmas arrangements and these are raffled. We usually have a very large crowd, around 200 people, this night. As a result we have helped many charities.
