Gun Club
Durrow gun club is a small club located in Durrow, Co. Laois. As well as being a gun club, we are also a game preservation association and go to great lengths to preserve and promote both the natural habitat and wild breeding of game birds within our club grounds. This is achieved by setting up extensive game sanctuaries for birds to breed in a protected environment and also the club actively partakes in vermin control. This vermin control is done in close partnership with NPWS and the NARGC which our club is affiliated with.
The latest drive by both our club and these organisations is an intensive countrywide trapping programme against mink and grey squirrels. This has been put in place to protect our fish stocks, promote our songbird breeding and hopefully see a resurgence of our native red squirrel.
