Over the years many’s a weary motor sport enthusiast stopped of in the picturesque town of Durrow with its pretty well kept Green and beautiful Riverside walk for a break whilst going or coming to Motor sport Events in the South of Ireland in places like Cork, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford etc.

Highly respected Motor sport Competitors in the area, the likes of Oliver Stanley, Donal and Donal Og Carroll and the Finnegan’s Colm & Chris firmly put Durrow on the map through their Rallying and Autocross endeavours. This coupled with Durrow winning the prestigious pride of place competition in 2006 makes it a town that visitors will enjoy and savour.

Recently the Birr and District Motor Club has used the Durrow Area for its premier event their Tarmac Stages Rally, which has attracted crews from all over Ireland and the UK. This Rally is the opening round of the Dunlop National Rally Championship along with being the opening rounds of the West Coast & Midland’s East Rally Series. One of the keys ingredients of the Rally success has been the Pleasant Hospitality afforded to all participants and spectators alike from the people in the Durrow and surrounding Areas.
