St Vincent de Paul

The St Vincent de Paul Society in Durrow is a private, confidential, independent and non-judgmental service who assists people in difficult circumstances in the town and surrounding areas. The Durrow Branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which is known as the St Fintan’s Conference, was founded in 1970. The Conference has carried out many charitable works in the Durrow area over the past 42 years.

Its main work is helping those in need at times of financial and personal crisis. Members of the Society visit those in need and give whatever help they can to relieve the financial burden encountered by many people. Help is also given by way of regular supplies of coal and briquettes for the heating needs of people in wintertime. Vouchers are also distributed to people at Christmas time and whenever there is a need throughout the year.

In order to carry out this work Church Gate collections are undertaken and the Society appreciate the generous monies received at those collections. The Society is also grateful for the donations it receives from individuals and community groups.
