Durrow Community Playgroup is a childcare facility catering for children from 2yrs 10mths-5 years who are toilet trained. The maximum number of children catered for at any one session is 20. All conditions of the Children (Pre-school Services Regulations) 1996 will be adhered to in the Durrow Community Playgroup 2012. The Playgroup Leader is qualified in Childcare and has many years experience in managing a playgroup. We are HSE approved and members of Early Childhood Ireland. The Playgroup is staffed daily by 3 trained staff and a FAS Employee.
All activities in the Playschool are designed to promote the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the child, having regard for his age and stage of development. This is achieved through the use of books, jigsaws, toys, play dough and a range of other play materials. All activities are age appropriate.
Friendships are established in play school, which help children interact with others, making the transition from playschool to primary school much smoother. The aim of the Playgroup is to provide a safe and secure environment for the children where they can develop in a happy caring atmosphere. Parental involvement and/or suggestions are welcome at all times.
We offer a free pre-school year under the ECCE year funded by the Irish Government and also reduced rates for Parents on certain Social Welfare Benefits whose child is not eligible for the free pre school year. The Playgroup can be reached during playgroup hours on the school’s mobile phone, all parents are given the number.
OPENING TIMES: 9.15am to 12.45pm Monday to Friday, September to July. The School is closed for all Bank Holidays, Christmas and 1 week at Easter. Early Registration is necessary as places are limited.
As Durrow Community Playgroup is community run, the committee is run on a voluntary basis and all parents are members and have a vote. A Constitution was adopted in 2008 for the Playgroup and is given to all parents when their child starts Playschool.
