Erkindale Residents

Erkindale Drive Estate is a local authority housing estate on the Kilkenny Road in Durrow, which was established in 1970 and over the years, has grown to its present size of forty-four houses and six maisonettes. Many of the houses have now been purchases by the tenants. Erkindale Drive Residence Association was formed in 1985 to assist with the upkeep of the estate. At that time the grass cutting and general maintenance had to be done by the residents. We now get help with this work from the local Community Employment Scheme.

In recent years we have planted trees and shrub beds on the green area. The green area is also a great asset to the local children who enjoy playing hurling and football there. Laois County Council resurfaced the roadway and fitted ramps three years ago. We are now working on getting the footpaths repaired. The committee at present are: Chairman – Eamon Dunphy; Secretary – Mary Walsh; Treasurer – Angela Drennan.
