The children’s playground was opened in 2008 to their delight! The structure caters for kids up to twelve year old. Durrow Development Forum worked on the project with the Sports section of Laois County Council and with the kind permission of the Parish Council, for the grounds, to create a little bit of paradise for the young of Durrow. All the community effort to maintain it and keep it safe for the children is still present today and the playground is well respected and enjoyed by the children everyday.

It has been used for Family fun days with sandcastle competitions, private birthday parties and picnics for the schools and groups of the area. On the opening day in 2008, local children placed artefacts in a time-capsule box. The box is sealed and placed in the grounds where they will remain for fifty years before it will be opened again! Location: Kilkenny Rd, Durrow. (Beside Old Boys School)

Features: The playground features spring seesaw, toddler multi-way, spring rocker, sand pit, water play unit, bucket swing, spinning basket, standing seesaw, slides, cable runway, large swing rope, standing swing.
