Jim Clancy declined to go ahead for re-election but is happy to come on board for the Christmas Lights and the Scarecrow Festival. The committee thanked him for his commitment over the previous years. The Tidy Towns committee, which is a sub committee of Durrow Development Forum remains the same with Helen O’Brien as Secretary and the committee of Durrow Development Forum along with Fred Townsend and Catherine Geoghegan working on tidy towns projects for the coming year.
It was also noted at the meeting by some attendees that after the FAS Letter requesting donations went out that the community were not aware that Durrow Development Forum had been funding Tidy Towns and Contributing to the FAS scheme over previous years. Even allowing for this there is a huge shortfall in funding for the scheme and contributions are vital for the amount of work being carried out in the community. A report will be published regarding this and will be in the next newsletter, which will assist in clarifying questions raised.
