Durrow Library News – Early November 2017
DURROW LIBRARY: The Lego Club has restarted. The Wednesday session for older children is now full but there is still some availability for the Saturday session at 11am. Please contact the library to book a place. For those interested in a Lego building competition please go to the Abbeyleix library page on the Laois County Council website to download rules and entry form for their competition being judged on the 9th of December!
We are still hoping to run a Genealogical course on Tuesday evenings in November (start date as of yet unconfirmed) but we need numbers to do so! Please sign up at the library if you have any interest.
An open night is being held on Monday 6th of November at Durrow Library for anyone interested in the Irish Conversation Group. This is a relaxed, welcoming group who come together to speak and practice their Irish. Ideal for students in exam years who want to practice Irish without the stress of a classroom, and for people who want to use the Irish they have. The open night will be held at 8pm and tea and coffee will be served.
The library would again like to thank Miss King’s 3rd class for participating in the Children’s Classics Literacy Project. The art workshop on The Wind in the Willows was great fun and included printing, illustrated pop ups and marbling. The children all did wonderfully. Thanks also to the Junior Infants who came to a reading by author Emer Conlon, where they got to meet all her Vroom Town characters! They were excellent listeners!
Library Opening Times: The open times are as follows: Tuesdays: 1.30pm to 5.30pm and 6pm to 7.30pm; Wednesdays: 10am to 1.30pm and 2pm to 5.30pm; Saturdays 11am to 1pm. Phone: (057) 8736090 or e-mail: Lmoriarty@laoiscoco.ie for information on any of the above.
