Thoughts for the day

Face the problems of today. That’s all you need to do. Deal with them according to the strength that’s given you. Don’t anticipate the hour until you hear it chime. We were meant to live this life just one day at a time.

************

Up and down the countryside the golden sheaves now stand. And a rich fulfilment crowns the labours of the land. Satisfying to the heart and pleasing to the eye: the pattern of the harvest fields beneath the August sky.

Abbeyleix Golf News

It is Captain’s prize time again at Abbeyleix Golf Club and this year’s event will be hosted by local man Mr John Alley who is club captain for the current year. Up to now John has had a very successful captaincy leading his committee and members into acquisition of land and the drawing up of plans to convert the course from its existing 9 holes to the status of an 18 hole course. Work is well underway and everyone is looking forward to its successful completion.

John’s captain’s Prize will be played over two weekends culminating in a final showdown on Sunday September 5th. Good golf and favorable weather conditions are all that is now required.

Another Durrow person figured highly in Abbeyleix last Sunday when Ms. Catherine McLoughlin of Patrick Street won the Lady’s Presidents’s (Mrs Sylvia O’Donovan) Prize. Catherine was presented with a beautiful piece of Lladro china. Congratulations and good wishes to all concerned.
