DUNMORE COMMUNITY ALERT: A big thank you to Andy Phelan and family, Kyle for hosting the Barn Dance on August 23rd. This was a very successful and entertaining night raising much needed funds towards the Community Alert CCTV Scheme.
SLIEVE BLOOM WALKING CLUB: Join us on Sunday 14th September when the club will host a 15km Grade A walk from Cullohill Mountain to Durrow. Meet up at The Castle Arms Hotel at 1pm where a bus costing €5 will depart. For further information on the walk, please contact Susan on (087) 2574477.

CHURCH CLEANERS: Due to the decline in Church cleaners for reasons of health etc… we urgently need more men and women with one hour to spare per week to come on the rota. We try to have four in a group, so the more groups we have the less you will be called on during the year. Contact Betty Walsh or Angela Drennan or any of the volunteers on the list with your name and you will be notified through the newsletter which month you will be required to volunteer. Many thanks.
AWARE: The Aware Support Group for people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and other mood related conditions meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm in St.Peter and Paul’s Parish Centre, Portlaoise. SATURDAY MARKET: Durrow Saturday market is open every Saturday from 9am to 12.30pm in the Computer Centre beside the RC Church on the Kilkenny Rd. Potato’s and Fresh Vegetables are available, to book your favourites please ring Marie on (087) 7742506. Home Baking from Bernie Brennan is also now available with a selection of fresh breads, scones, tarts and cakes. You can also book cakes for parties etc. with Bernie. Do come along, great value on offer!

LITTLE OAKS PARENT AND TODDLER PLAYGROUP: The Little Oaks Parent and Toddler Playgroup continues meetings on Tuesdays at 10am in the Presentation Centre. All are most welcome. All enquiries to Teresa on (086) 3914725.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR: A Christmas Craft Fair will be held in The Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow on Saturday 8th November from 11am to 6pm. Crafts people from all over counties Laois and Kilkenny will present their unique Christmas gifts at affordable prices. Come, Browse and Buy!
TABLE QUIZ: The Harps Juvenile GAA Club are holding a Table Quiz in O’Connells Bar and Lounge in Cullohill on Friday, September 12th at 9.30pm. A table of four will cost €40 to enter. The Quizmaster on the night will be Dave Finnegan. Please Support.
FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT: Congratulations to Louise Mahony on been chosen as Laois Camogie Player of the Decade. An honor truly deserved for her commitment to her Club, The Harps and to her county Laois. Louise has been a super player for her club and has helped in no small way to making her team one of the best in the country and bringing much silverware to the club from both county titles and All-Ireland titles.
BEST OF LUCK: Best wishes to the Laois Senior Camogie team who will play County Down in the All-Ireland Final at Croke Park, Dublin on September 14th.
Congratulations to Avril Deegan who finished second in the marathon at the Community Games National Finals in Athlone recently.
ABBEYLEIX GOLF CLUB: Strictly Come Dancing: Dance classes have commenced at the Clubhouse on Wednesdays at 8pm. A few male dancers are required. The show will be in the Heritage Hotel on 4th October. For further details please phone (086) 8180153.
