MONDAY JANUARY 5TH: Generally overcast with patchy rain and drizzle developing at times, though a few short bright or sunny breaks are possible also. Max temperatures of 9c to 11c. Winds will be light to moderate S to SW. OVERNIGHT: A spell of general rain will push eastwards overnight with some hill sleet or wet snow. Winds backing W. Temperatures dropping to around 2c or 3c by dawn.

TUESDAY JANUARY 6TH: Overcast in the east at first as any rain, sleet or hill snow clears to give bright sunny spells (with just an isolated chance of a shower later). Winds light to moderate W to SW. Highs of 6c to 9c. OVERNIGHT: Clear at first allowing a frost to set in as lows drop close to 0c, however southerly winds will pick up later in the night as cloud and rain develops in the west clearing any frost.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 7TH: Overcast with spells of heavy and persistent rain along with strong and gusty S to SW winds. Mild with highs of 10c to 12c. OVERNIGHT: Rain gradually clearing as winds back W and moderate. Becoming cold by dawn with a slight ground frost as temperatures drop to between 2c and 5c.

THURSDAY JANUARY 8TH: A cool blustery and showery day is forecast, some sunny spells but passing heavy showers of rain, hail and sleet. Highs of 5c to 8c in a brisk W to NW wind. OVERNIGHT: Windy with cloud increasing from the SW bringing rain later. Lows of 4c to 8c.

FRIDAY JANUARY 9TH: Mild with a strong SW wind bringing spells of rain, heavy at times. Highs of 9c to 11c. OVERNIGHT: Rain continuing for a time before clearing by dawn. Lows of 3c to 6c in fresh westerly winds.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK: Remaining unsettled and cool with some night frosts.
