FORECAST – Rain during the midweek, becoming dry thereafter with overnight frosts, sharp at times too.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 11: Overcast with spells of rain, heavy at times in the morning. Windy too with a fresh SE wind, backing west later as a clearance extends from the west with the chance of an isolated shower. Mild with highs of between 9c and 12c. OVERNIGHT: Dry at first, with a slight frost as temperatures drop close to 0c, however cloud will thicken during the night and winds will back SE once more and freshen – causing temperatures to rise through the night. Rain arriving around daybreak.

THURSDAY MARCH 12: A wet and windy start to the day in fresh S to SE winds. During the early afternoon a clearance will extend from the west with just an isolated shower. Winds backing SW later and easing. Highs of 9c to 12c. OVERNIGHT: Clear skies will allow a sharp frost to set in and fog will develop under near calm conditions. Lows of -2c to +1c with ice developing on untreated surfaces.

FRIDAY MARCH 13: A dry but cool day is expected. Good sunny spells generally. Highs of 8c to 11c in a light NW airflow. OVERNIGHT: Cold and clear with a sharp frost setting in. Some local fog patches too. Lows of -3c to 0c.

SATURDAY MARCH 14: With high pressure to the north east, a largly dry day can be expected with a mix of cloud and sunshine. Winds light SE. Highs of 7c to 10c. OVERNIGHT: Clearing skies will allow a sharp frost to set in. Lows of -4c to 0c in a light E to SE breeze. Some fog may develop in sheltered areas.

SUNDAY MARCH 15: Becoming colder as east to northeast breezes pick up. Less sunshine and more cloud can be expected, with perhaps a light shower drifting in from the Irish sea later. Highs of just 5c to 8c at best. OVERNIGHT: Cold in a light to moderate east wind. Lows of 0c to 3c. Partly cloudy, with the small chance of a wintry shower drifting in from the Irish sea.

MONDAY MARCH 16: East breezes backing more southeast, though remaining cool. A mix of cloud and sunny breaks. Highs of 6c to 9c. A small chance of a light shower continues. OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy and cold. Lows of 0c to 4c in a light SE breeze. A small chance of a wintry shower.

TUESDAY MARCH 17: Not much change is expected, Alot of cloud is expected with just a few sunny breaks at times. Highs of 7c to 10c in a light SE breeze. A small chance of a light shower. OVERNIGHT: Patchy cloud and cold. Lows of 1c to 5c in a light SE breeze.

OUTLOOK: During midweek, high pressure settles over Ireland giving dry conditions, perhaps alot of cloud though. Thereafter, a northwest airflow looks like becoming established bringing a very cold end to the week. Still alot of uncertainty over next weekend though. More on this later…
