Harps Camogie all set for Championship 2019
THE HARPS CAMOGIE CLUB: Intermediate – The Intermediate team find themselves in fourth place at the end of the league championship, losing to Camross, St. Brigids and O’Moores. They now go on to play Camross in the semi final on September 13th.
Junior – The newly formed junior team have played two matches and have two remaining. They’ve lost out to Camross and St. Brigids and will play Naomh Eamonn on 16th August and Portlaoise on the 28th of August. There are five teams in this championship with four going into semi finals.
Minor/U16 – Minor/U16 hasn’t commenced yet. This championship begins in September.
U14s – Our U14s find themselves tied with Camross and Naomh Eamonn in the A end of the table with Portlaoise clear on top. They have to play O’Moores on Wednesday 7th August and a win in this this should place them in second or third place depending on other results. A loss could see the team in a three way tie for third, fourth and fifth place. They have done very well so far. The semi finals take place on the 19th August.
U12s – Our U12s are also in a good position on the table with one match remaining against Abbeyleix on the 31st July. They are currently in third place on the table and are hoping to secure a place in the A semis on 24th August and B finals on the 25th August.
U10s/U8s/U6s – Our U6s took part in a very successful blitz in Durrow last Saturday morning with teams from O’Moores and Naomh Eamonn also taking part. They played great and it was a very enjoyable event. Our U8 teams took part in St. Brigid’s blitz in Kilcotton last week. Due to holidays we fielded only one team and played St. Brigids, Portlaoise and Naomh Eamonn. The girls, under the stewardship of Nicola Brophy, excelled with a strong performance by each and every girl. The U10s were next up with two teams taking part in the Portlaoise Blitz. With Colin Lawlor and Aiden Kavanagh in charge of a team each they played St. Lazarians, Abbeyleix, Ban RĂon Gaels, Portarlington and Portlaoise. Both teams were terrific and are improving and getting more confident with every blitz showing our juveniles section is blossoming!
