Coillte have been advised of the downed trees and work on these is ongoing. DURROW LIBRARY: The following opening hours introduced on January 27th 2014 are now in effect at Durrow Library on Chapel Street: Monday: Closed, Tuesday: 1pm to 5.30pm; Wednesday 1.30pm to 5.30pm and 6pm to 7.30pm; Thursday: Closed; Friday: 10.30am to 12.30pm; Saturday: 11am to 1pm; Sunday: Closed. Laois County Council announced the new changes recently.

WOODEN BRIDGE PADDLERS: The sponsored Raft Race on Sunday 26th January was posponed owing to very high river levels and a new date will be announced when river levels return to safe levels. For more information contact (087) 2395357.

DURROW FADO WRITERS GROUP: People with a genuine interest in creative writing required to join the above group, initially to assist in writing a drama based on a specific episode in the history of Durrow, and subsequently to compile local data of a social and historical nature for future publications. Workshops are expected to commence in early February. No previous writing experience, or indeed in-depth knowledge of local history is required.
