Retired Politican Liz Mc Manus journeys on the looped walks on Lough Boora in the Midlands and takes in a 16km route from Durrow Castle in Laois to the highest point in the area The Ballagh. The trail head begins near the gates of Durrow Castle and meanders in a loop around the town taking in the highest vantage point in the area. During her walk on this leafy loop Liz hikes a woodland path that loops around to the River Nore.
Ms. Ann Lanigan, Rural Recreational Officer with Laois Partnership, and local historian Sean Conroy feature in the programme. The views from here in all directions are stunning and this walk is approximately 16km long. Laois County Council & Bord na Móna contributed to the making of this programme, which is well worth watching, and for those late reading this article the programme can be viewed online using the RTE Player at this address… http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/10255530/ online.
