Starting at Centerpoint Car Park at 6.30pm. All are welcome, make it a family occasion, bring the children in the buggy. For the ladies if you are taking part in the Flora Mini-Marathon in June this 5.5km route is an excellent opportunity to test your fitness level and help a great cause in the process. Participants are asked to make a donation of €10.00 to the RISE Foundation and a monster raffle will be held at the end of the walk. If you require further information phone Brenda on (085) 8551107 or join us on Facebook: Portlaoise-Mini-Mini-Marathon. All funds raised at this event will be used to support the Portlaoise RISE family programme and one-to one counseling which opened in 2013. The RISE Foundation is dedicated to providing recovery in a safe environment for families with loved ones in addiction. Founded in 2009 by Frances Black when she realised that families who have loved ones in addiction are devastated to watch them go down the route of self destruction. Using a programme of assessment, education, counselling and peer support, the RISE counsellors have designed an education and therapeutic programme to help change the way that addiction is understood in families and gives a ray of hope to families suffering from the impact of having a loved one in addiction. If you have a loved one in addiction and need support, please contact the RISE Foundation in the strictest confidence on (01) 764 5131.
