Brendan Sheeran Memorial Cup: Durrow/Cullohill parish Anglers held a Pike Fishing Competition on Grantstown Lake on Sunday February 22nd recently and despite the terrible wet conditions there was a good number fishing. Winner of the Brendan Sheeran Memorial Cup was Michael Walsh, Second – Pat Dunphy and Third – Seamus Coffey. The next pike fishing competition on Grantstown Lake will be held on March 8th. Trout Season re-opens on St. Patrick’s Day with a competition. All members will receive a “Text” giving all details of the competition at least a week before the event. Membership cards will be available before the trout season starts.

Fishermen of the year: Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held their 2014 awards presentation in the Durrow Inn on Sunday evening February 22nd last. U14 Angler of the Year was won by – Lee Coffey; U14 Heaviest Trout was won by – K. Carroll; U18 Angler of the Year was won by – Dan Brophy; U18 Heaviest Trout was won by – Dan Brophy; Senior Angler of the Year – Seamus Coffey; Heaviest Trout – Jonathan Stapleton and Heaviest Pike – Michael Walsh. The Club Chairman Philip Kearney made the presentations and thanked everyone for their support in 2014. He looked forward to another good year.
