Our Lady’s Meadow Primary School News and October 2014 Round-Up
Bag Pack: Our Lady’s Meadow have secured this Friday, November 7th in Dunnes Stores, Kyle Centre, Portlaoise for bag-packing. If you have an hour or two free between 10am and 8pm and would like to help us raise much needed funds for new P.E. equipment… please text (086) 8898110 with your name and suitable time to help. The success of this fundraising event is totally reliant on your help and support. As always, thank you for any support you may be able to offer.
Fundraising: The Durrow Reminiscing Group has donated 40 of the Durrow Reminiscing Books’ to the school. The books are for sale in the shops at 30 euro each as the shops retain 5 euro but if the books are sold through the school for 25 euro each the school has the potential to make 1000 euro which could be used to pay off some of the debt on the Peter Coe room. Each book contains 289 photographs dating from 1914 to 2013-almost 100 years. It also contains local history and tributes written by locals.
Some of our pupils and their parents/grandparents are in the photographs. This book would make a lovely Christmas gift. We are very grateful to the DRG for this very generous donation.
Copies of the book are now available for purchase in the school office, phone (057) 8736329.
New Deputy Principal: Following the recent retirement of Mrs Anne Purcell, Ms Sinead Curran has been appointed as the Deputy Principal.
Buy a Brick for only €10 and have your name immortalised as part of our school’s building fund! Contact the School on (057) 8736329 for further information.
One-Way System: We ask that parents be mindful of the one-way system in operation during school hours. Parents are asked to enter the green area via the Castledurrow entrance and exit via The Stores Daybreak. Many thanks for your co-operation as it will help keep the area safer for children going to and from the School.
