DURROW COMMUNITY SERVICES: Recently Durrow Community Services issued a letter to all households, businesses, clubs and organisations in the Durrow area. This letter outlined the work carried out in the community by the Community Employment scheme, while also outlining the reduction in funding provided to the scheme by the Department of Social Protection. Enclosed with the letter, an envelope was provided to allow the recipient the opportunity to make a donation to ensure the scheme can carry on providing the level of services.
The intention of the committee, as described in the letter, was to attempt “one massive determined drive to restore the scheme to a proper financial standing” thus preventing the need for any further fund-raising. Over the past month, attempts have been made to collect all donations from households, businesses, clubs and organisations. A lot of these attempts have been successful, and Durrow Community Services wish to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed. Some of these donations were extremely generous, and will be of great assistance in placing the scheme back onto a sound financial footing.
Unfortunately, despite the generosity of those who have contributed, a sufficient amount to prevent further fundraising has not been collected. Those households, clubs, businesses and organisations that have not contributed and wish to do so, or whose donation has not yet been collected, may still contribute by: Arranging a pick-up by phoning the office (057) 8736870; Donating by post to: DCS, Kilkenny Rd. Durrow; Or by dropping in your envelope to the office (right-hand-side of the Church gates) during working hours 9am to 5pm. Should the office be unattended, a locked post box is placed at the inner office door. The committee of DCS would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved with the scheme throughout the year, and to wish everyone in Durrow and surrounding areas, a happy and peaceful New Year.
