Laois Community & Voluntary Awards 2014: At the Laois County Council Community and Volunteer Awards, Laois Kayak & Canoe Club were thrilled to win the Sports and Recreation award. It is a huge honour for the club and members are delighted with this award. Well done also to club member Calvin O’Brien who was nominated for a Young Person of the Year. A great event was held in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise. Thanks also to the organisers Laois County Council and sponsors┬áLaois Nationalist, Laois Sports Partnership and Laois Local Enterprise Office.

Vicarstown Paddle: The clubs Vicarstown Canal paddle on Sunday 18th January found the canal frozen and the clubs creek boats had to clear a pathway, it led to a very enjoyable but cold kayaking trip.

Canoe Polo Tournament: The club took part in the Irish Defence Forces Canoe Polo Tournament in the Curragh on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th. Well done to all for taking part.

Freestyle Team Trials 2015: The Freestyle 2015 World Championships Team Trials training continues and the trials will take place in Limerick from the 21st of March 2015 until the 23rd March 2015.

AGM: Our AGM will take place later in February 2015, date will be confirmed closer to the time.

Interested in Kayaking: As is standard and due to the shorter evenings, paddling will now be on at the weekends only. If you are interested in taking up paddling, we will be having training sessions in the coming months as the evenings get longer and these sessions are a perfect opportunity to try it out.
