Galway Fest 2015 – A great weekend of competition was held at Galway Fest 2015. The whitewater was a very fast and competitive race with the top time being just 5 minutes and 36 seconds in the Senior Mens. The Freestyle took place in Tuam and there was a fantastic turnout especially in the Junior and Women’s events – certainly Women’s freestyle has been growing over the past few years and is a sport well worth getting into.

Devizes to Westminster Race in the UK – Laois Kayak and Canoe club members Paul Byrne and Matt Mc Grath are paddling the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race which starts in Devizes, Wiltshire, finishing just downstream of Westminster Bridge in central London, opposite the Houses of Parliament. The race has been held annually over the Easter Weekend since 1948. The race is 125 miles long and is a race with a severe test of skill, physical and mental stamina and planning which produces a memorable sense of achievement for those successfully completing it. Paul and Matt are fundraising for Temple Street Children’s Hospital and have a charity sponsorship link on the club facebook page and if you’d like to support them you can donate there, or you can donate to any LKCC Club Member. We wish them both the very best of luck in the race!

Freestyle Team Trials 2015 – The Freestyle 2015 World Championships Team Trials training continues and the trials will take place in Limerick from the 21st of March 2015 until the 23rd March 2015.
